Dear Friend,All of us have the privilege and responsibility of choosing our attitude, no matter what circumstances or situations we find ourselves in. The key to life lies within our thoughts and what we choose. Attitudes don’t just happen; they are the products of our choice. Over time, the thoughts we choose to think will program how we respond to certain types of situations therefore create how we experience life.
So how do you start using affirmation?
It is pretty easy to start doing affirmations; after all you have been doing them all your life...
Have you ever said -
-My feet are killing me!I am sick as a dog!
-I feel like slapping somebody today- I am so angry!
-You make me so angry I could hurt you right now!I hate you when you do that!
-You know, when it rains it pours...
-Bad things always happen to good people...
-The only guarantees in life are poverty and death
-My head feels like it’s about to explode!
Hmmm, these are affirmations?
Well yes, they are just not positive ones. We affirm things to ourselves and others all the time -- it is all part of communicating. Deciding to incorporate positive affirmations into your life is simply an act of choosing your words and thoughts a little more carefully.
Learn to pay attention to how you speak and feel.
The first thing you want to do when you start using positive affirmations is decide to be positive all the time. It sounds easy but it is not. We are bombarded everyday with others saying negative things, negative advertising and negative media message in the newspapers, radio, TV and Internet. This world works around a negative sphere. Earth is basically a negative planet that we are trying to figure out how we can discipline ourselves to rise above the influence.
An easy way to be positive all the time is to
1. Tell your friends and family (or those you live with) that you are developing a new mindset and will only be positive. If they can’t stop the gossip or support your new outlook it’s time to regroup on the friendship tip.
2. Write out your affirmations on post it notes and place around your home, in your car or at your workplace to remind you to be positive. Throughout the day you will see the notes and be reminded of your new way of life. I set an alarm on my I-phone at certain time that goes off and the message written pops up as, “Are you speaking, thinking and behaving in a positive manner. Hey it sounds crazy but it reminds me what my goals are.
After a few weeks you will see that the negative comments are greatly reduced and you feel a whole bunch better.
So now that you have the speaking part of your life moving in the right direction now it is time to work on the thoughts part. This part is a little harder to reign in and control. First, choose some positive affirmations to incorporate into your thoughts
I am confident
I am healthy
I am safe
I am happy
I am open to living a peaceful life
I love and approve of myself
My life is easy and funLife is good
Money comes to me easily
If you take time to meditate during the day (even if it is on lunch break at work) say these power statements to yourself (and out loud - if you can) for a few minutes. Try to say the statements with a positive emotion attached (the affirmations will work better if attached to a emotion). Saying the positive statements to yourself, while looking in the mirror help too.
Whenever you get a few free moments during the day go through your affirmations.
At night, as you are drifting off to sleep repeat your affirmations over and over as you drift off.
For example: I am confident, healthy, happy and successful all is well.
All in all this process takes about 15 minutes a day. One of my coaching clients has her affirmations written on little colorful index cards and she places them all over her home so she sees them where ever she goes. She also reviews her affirmations while meditating and whenever she feels a little stressed during her day.
Try it! You will really see a difference.
Incorporating positive affirmations into your life is really not that big of a deal. Here is an affirmation to try when you are starting out.“I am open to being positive in my words and thoughts”
Until Next time my friend!!!

Things to think about, Life will always have challenges just remember this too shall pass. Your ultimate goals and objectives you have set out for your life resolves around your fears, anxiety or low self-confidence. Do you have a sense for which one of these may be causing the hiccups you mention? If so you have the first step to getting out of your rut.
Many of my clients respond to their problem with this statement, “Every time I say to myself I need to make a change, it always backfires and I end up going one step forward, 500 steps back.”
Do you feel this way, if so you are not alone!
The truth is when you get the feelings that your goals are impossible to reach, do you believe it has to do with the goals you have selected or with uncertainties/fears/negative challenges that impact your belief that you will get there?
When this happens you need to try harder to put yourself in situations that will create opportunity of change. Not only will doing something for change and the enjoyment of it help get out of your mental rut; it will give you a new opportunity to form relationships and friends… breaking down your fear boosting self confidence are all supported by the willingness to change.
I look forward from hearing from you!!!
