How Do I Start Using Affirmations? Is It Easy?

Dear Friend,

All of us have the privilege and responsibility of choosing our attitude, no matter what circumstances or situations we find ourselves in. The key to life lies within our thoughts and what we choose. Attitudes don’t just happen; they are the products of our choice. Over time, the thoughts we choose to think will program how we respond to certain types of situations therefore create how we experience life.

So how do you start using affirmation?

It is pretty easy to start doing affirmations; after all you have been doing them all your life...

Have you ever said -

-My feet are killing me!I am sick as a dog!
-I feel like slapping somebody today- I am so angry!
-You make me so angry I could hurt you right now!I hate you when you do that!
-You know, when it rains it pours...
-Bad things always happen to good people...
-The only guarantees in life are poverty and death
-My head feels like it’s about to explode!

Hmmm, these are affirmations?

Well yes, they are just not positive ones. We affirm things to ourselves and others all the time -- it is all part of communicating. Deciding to incorporate positive affirmations into your life is simply an act of choosing your words and thoughts a little more carefully.

Learn to pay attention to how you speak and feel.

The first thing you want to do when you start using positive affirmations is decide to be positive all the time. It sounds easy but it is not. We are bombarded everyday with others saying negative things, negative advertising and negative media message in the newspapers, radio, TV and Internet. This world works around a negative sphere. Earth is basically a negative planet that we are trying to figure out how we can discipline ourselves to rise above the influence.

An easy way to be positive all the time is to

1. Tell your friends and family (or those you live with) that you are developing a new mindset and will only be positive. If they can’t stop the gossip or support your new outlook it’s time to regroup on the friendship tip.

2. Write out your affirmations on post it notes and place around your home, in your car or at your workplace to remind you to be positive. Throughout the day you will see the notes and be reminded of your new way of life. I set an alarm on my I-phone at certain time that goes off and the message written pops up as, “Are you speaking, thinking and behaving in a positive manner. Hey it sounds crazy but it reminds me what my goals are.

After a few weeks you will see that the negative comments are greatly reduced and you feel a whole bunch better.

So now that you have the speaking part of your life moving in the right direction now it is time to work on the thoughts part. This part is a little harder to reign in and control. First, choose some positive affirmations to incorporate into your thoughts

I am confident

I am healthy

I am safe

I am happy

I am open to living a peaceful life

I love and approve of myself

My life is easy and funLife is good

Money comes to me easily

If you take time to meditate during the day (even if it is on lunch break at work) say these power statements to yourself (and out loud - if you can) for a few minutes. Try to say the statements with a positive emotion attached (the affirmations will work better if attached to a emotion). Saying the positive statements to yourself, while looking in the mirror help too.

Whenever you get a few free moments during the day go through your affirmations.

At night, as you are drifting off to sleep repeat your affirmations over and over as you drift off.

For example: I am confident, healthy, happy and successful all is well.

All in all this process takes about 15 minutes a day. One of my coaching clients has her affirmations written on little colorful index cards and she places them all over her home so she sees them where ever she goes. She also reviews her affirmations while meditating and whenever she feels a little stressed during her day.

Try it! You will really see a difference.

Incorporating positive affirmations into your life is really not that big of a deal. Here is an affirmation to try when you are starting out.“I am open to being positive in my words and thoughts”

Until Next time my friend!!!

Why Do Affirmations Sometimes Not Work?

Dear friend,

In my last post I mentioned a new affirmation you can do related to money...

" Money comes to me easily."

I mentioned that this affirmation won't work in some cases... Why?

You!

OK, I will explain. You are the reason why the affirmation won't work or more precisely your internal thought patterns. Winston Churchill noted that “Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference.” I couldn’t agree more. All of us need “attitude adjustments” at times, and an attitude adjustment is the result of changing the way we think.

If your internal thoughts about money don't jive with the above affirmation your internal mind will disregard the statement and basically reject it because it conflicts with what you really think.

If you think...

1. I can not create all the money I need because the economy is bad
2. I can not create all the money I need because there are no jobs
3. I need a bailout... I can not create all the money I need without gov't help
4. I don't have enough money my expenses are too high
5. I can't find any ways to create money

6. I can't create money I don't have a very good job

Or about a million other dysfunctional things about money you may be conflicting with my affirmation.

So, if you read this affirmation about money and feel yourself saying "fat chance, or yeah right..." you probably don't think you are equipped to create all the money you will ever need....

If this is you admit it and decide right now that this issue is something you are committed to improve and work on... how? Well with an affirmation of course!!!

"I am open to new ways of thinking about money and my relationship with money"

That seems easier doesn't it?

So if you can stomach this affirmation without thinking you are joking yourself use this one...

"I am enough. I am open to new revenues of money."

If you really don't believe the above use this one....

"I am in the process of receiving unexpected income"

So what happens with this affirmation once I say it? You'll have to wait until next time to find out...

Say the affirmation to yourself just as you are falling asleep tonight and when you awake. Write the affirmation on the bathroom mirror or on your fridge. Try to say it to yourself and write it down at least 20 times per day over the next few days. Something will start to happen...

Always remember no matter what happens to you, determine to go through it with the right attitude. In fact, determine beforehand that you will keep a positive attitude in the midst of every negative situation that presents itself to you. I promise you my friend if you make this decision and mediate on it during a good time in your life, and then when difficulty arises you will already be prepared to maintain a good attitude.

Until Next time my friend!!!

What Is An Affirmation?

Dear Friend,

Many people have heard of the word affirmation but few know what they really are or even more importantly how to do them. Affirmations are positive phrases that can be said to oneself to promote a certain thought process or positive self image. An example of an affirmation is

* I am safe

another example might be

* I am confident
Affirmations seem to work best when

1. The phrase is in the positive. "I am safe" rather than "My husband won't hurt me anymore".
When the positive phrases start with "I am", "I will", "I love" I’m in the process of, or "I have".

2. People use affirmations for all types of things:
-increase health or eliminate sickness
-increase wealth, abundance or prosperity
-realize a specific goal (ie. finding a home)
-improve one's self image
-promote a new thought pattern
-promote a peaceful life
-promote a more dynamic spiritual life

The list is really endless...

If you want to improve you life you must first improve your thoughts. Have you ever heard someone say you can change your life overnight? Well, this is partly true you can change aspect of your life overnight although it all starts with renewing of your mind.

Or, in other words stop thinking negative thoughts- start thinking positive thoughts and no self criticism. Do all the things you love to do and try your best to stay as peaceful and happy as you can in this negative world?

Your thoughts are only part of the change your mood is the key. If you can keep your mood level focus on a higher vibrational frequency you will attract whatever you desire in your life. That’s mean you must start today working on stable emotions.

Do not be so quick to angry
Do not be so quick to be influenced by other people opinions
Do not live your life by other people expectations

Start living by your own desires.
Do what feels good and right for you.
Then and only then will you aligned with your desire.

Always remember my friend God helps people who keep a good attitude in challenging times. My message in this letter is for you to determine to keep a good, positive, and thankful attitude!

Until Next time my friend!!!

Affirmation Secrets: How to Hold to Your Affirmations and Keep on Living in the Now

Dear Friend,

Lots of people really become very committed to their affirmations. They speak the affirmations in the morning when they awake. They speak the affirmations at night before they fall asleep. I speak my affirmations at every moment - in the shower, while I cook and I take my daily walk.

Day in day out the affirmations is right there on the front of people minds. Some people even turn the affirmations into a sort of chant that continues on all day long. I must admit I write my affirmation 20 times in the morning and once again 20 times before I go to bed. Sounds insane I know but the truth is it’s a winning formula to me. Well, it is, sort of.

Affirmations work best when repeated many times over and over. This repetition helps the inner mind change and fall in line with whatever it is you are focusing on. Over time the repeating of the affirmations will change how you think about your desired outcome and in turn change how you feel, behave and the decisions you make.

Where the mind goes, the man follows. Our thoughts cause us to have certain attitudes and perspectives; they affect our relationships; they determine how productive we will be personally and professional; and they greatly influence the overall quality of our lives

As mentioned, affirmations work best when repeated over and over – but if you don’t feel comfortable rehearsing affirmation over and over all day long you don’t have to I do what feels good to me! Doing this may make you feel down and out which will lead to your frequency lowering and the affirmation not working.

The purpose of affirming is to slowly change your inner perceptions about your life – not to blot out your current life situation. Affirming all day long will not help you get to your goal faster if you feel like this method suck. The bottom line is you have two option do affirmation as it comes to you or do it daily as I do the choice is yours. It will put you in automatic mode or it will drive you nuts you!

Affirmations work best when your mind is impressionable:

1. First thing in the morning while you are getting awake.
2. Last thing at night when you are falling asleep.
3. During meditation or journaling.
4. While walking alone and enjoying the outdoors.
5. During a visualization time.
6. When you are feeling bombarded with thoughts of fear regarding not achieving your affirmation. At these times let the affirmations rip fast and furious to get yourself back in balance.

You will find that affirming three or four times a day is sufficient if you are focused while you are doing the affirming. Rather than a daily habit like I resume in my daily life. The key is to keep the affirmations flowing if you are feeling overwhelmed with fear. At these times the chanting method is actually quite helpful. Remember to turn it off and come back to reality once your feel back in line with your desired outcome.

Other than that go live your life – the one you have right now. Your affirmations will come to pass over time as your inner self becomes more aligned with what you are affirming.

“Whatever you hold in your mind will tend to occur in your life. If you continue to believe as you have always acted. If you continue to act as you have always acted, you will continue to get what you have always gotten. If you want different result in your life or your work, all you have to do is change your mind.” -Anonymous

Why Do I Have To Be Willing To Change For My Affirmations To Work?

Dear Freind,

Many people seem to think that they can use affirmations in a vacuum while leaving the rest of their life as it is. Affirmations don’t work that way. The process of affirmations is really simple.

1. Think/say a new thought (the affirmation)
2.Experience a positive feeling about the thought ( the affirmation)
3.Make new decisions that will support your new thought (the affirmation)
4.Take new actions that support the decisions you have made
5. Experience your affirmation coming to pass

Does these chains of events always happen easily? No, and the reason is something you might not be expecting. The person doing the affirming has to be willing to make changes in their life. Why? Well, if you are affirming for a ‘certain something’ it would make sense that whatever you have been doing in the past has not been that productive in relation to the ‘certain something’ or you would already have what you are focusing on. In other words, as soon as the unwanted seeds of thoughts Negative thoughts in your mind stop them by replacing it with a positive better feeling thought.

Now don’t think you have to start psychotherapy or howl at the moon before your affirmation will come to pass. You can if you want to, if you think it will help (and in some cases that is really the option that will serve you). For the rest of you there is a simple ‘starter affirmation’ you can say regardless of your ‘main affirmation’ that will cover you.

“I am open to changing and evolving.”

That’s it? Yup. Oh, you also have to really mean it. Here is another tip:

Don’t work yourself up about anything. Just be open to whatever comes to the forefront of your thinking. Usually you start seeing unproductive or dysfunctional behavior in your life such as:

-You hear yourself saying something and realize it contradicts your affirmation and the life you are focusing on.

-You see your friends behaving in ways that will prevent you from achieving your affirmation and you ‘know’ you have to make some changes in your relationships.

-You go to perform a task you have done a hundred time and you suddenly see it as being different and part of the key to you achieving your affirmation.

The truth is no one’s entire life is like one big, long sunny day. At some point, we all face storms-whether they come in the form of unexpected illness, job loss, and financial crisis, martial difficulties, problems with children, or any number of other scenarios that are stressful, intense, and important. This is especially true when you start to change your life and use affirmation things will begin to stir-up. When the storms of life arise, it’s best to keep your mind and emotions as still as possible and focus on the affirmation for the moment.

Most of the times you experience an ‘ah ha’ moment and know exactly what you need to do and any changes you need to make. Other times it is a slow process of noticing that something in your life is the cause of your lack of having something you really want. When the realization comes you will know and making the changes will be a no brainer.

Remember this affirmation:

“I am open to changing and evolving.”

This simple statement will open the door to your affirmations easily aligning themselves to you.

Until Next time my friend!!!

What Can I Do When I Meditate To Help My Affirmations Work Quicker? Visualize!

Dear Friend,

Last time we talked about learning how to employ affirmation into your current lifestyle that suit your spirit. Now you can add something that will really jump-start your affirmations - visualizing.

Visualization is simply seeing your affirmation come to pass - in your mind. When you are meditating and saying your affirmation see yourself with this affirmation achieved and for a few moments feel what it would feel like.

DO NOT: Visualize HOW you will achieve the affirmation. Simply see it as being done.

You can think power enhancing thoughts or power draining thoughts. “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” –Proverbs 23:7

Here is an example:

You are affirming to live in a beautiful home that is just right for you and your family.

Affirmation:

I have the perfect living space. -Louise Hay

When you are saying your affirmation - Visualize yourself and family in this perfect living space living day to day. Experience the feeling of walking around and decorating this home knowing you manifested it through your affirmations and efforts.

After a few minutes of this exercise let the visions in your mind go and move on to another affirmation.

Visualizing for a few minutes will work wonders for you...Getting caught up in hyper-extended visualizing (when you spend many minutes or hours) about the same thing over and over will paralyze you from making decisions and taking action. As well, letting yourself ponder as to HOW the affirmation will come to pass will also get you in trouble and paralyze you.

Stay away from spending extended period of time visualizing or ponder HOW.

Simply say your affirmation during your meditating, 'see it' completed in your mind's eye and move on. Always remember when we believe or think we can do something, and then somehow, someway-even if we face challenges-we still manage to get it done. The same is true when we think negatively and come to believe we cannot do something. So watch what you think and believe my friend.

The message I want you to take from this letter is “Do not think about the How just ponder what you want to happen. A positive attitude enables you to make the best of every situation, and that gives you power over your circumstances instead of allowing your circumstances to have power over you. Try to form a habit of looking at the whole of life instead of centering on one thing that may be upsetting you. Thinking excessively about the problems we encounter in life only makes them appear to be larger than they really are. When you are experiencing any issue that is upsetting to you take time to purposely recall the good things that you enjoy also. So visualize and think about affirmations that make your heart sing with joy.

Until Next time my friend!!!

Love and Blessing

Affirmation Secrets: Learning To Take the Long View of Life

Dear Friend,

Do you know your mind can either work for you or against you, depending on how you train it? When the mind works for you, it helps you stay positive, reach your goals in life, and think the kinds of thoughts that enable you to enjoy each day. When the mind works against you, it can make you negative and discourage, holding you back from accomplishing what you want or need to do, and cause you to become stuck in a rut, and cause you to think the kinds of thoughts that results in self-sabotage.

There is a tiny secret that you need to know when working with affirmations. Apply this secret and watch your success rate soar and your results come faster and faster. Interested? It’s easy and it will only take a bit of effort on your part. And by a bit of effort I mean changing the way you look at things – everyday as you speak your affirmations.

Here is the secret: When you speak and visualize your affirmations see yourself with your affirmation fulfilled and you years later in the future.

Here is an example:

You are interested in earning more money so you can feel at ease with life and maybe enjoy the finer things in life. That seems pretty straight forward, right? All you have to do is formulate a few affirmations and stick with them and over time your results will appear. That is correct. But there is a quicker method and it does not involve any magic or tricks.

The quicker and more effective method is to speak your affirmation and see yourself years after; your specific affirmation is fulfilled. If you want to earn more money speak your specific affirmation and see yourself 10 years down the road, working in a fantastic career, earning more money that you can spend, your family and loved ones well provided for, your favourite charities eager to get your donations, your kids well educated and settled on their own, and on and on.

Your thinking can have a positive effect on your physical health if you want to be healthy (and currently are not) see yourself in your golden years slim, slender, in great shape, able to easily take care of yourself and the picture of health. Many people find this hard to do mostly because these people are not willing to change the way they think.

People who think positively can see potential in even the most discouraging situations, while those who do not think positively are quick to point out the situations’ problem and limitations.

If you earnestly follow this affirmation secret you will surely manifest your current specific affirmation. Why? If you can see yourself 10 years down the road with your new desired life intact and flowing then sometime in between now and 10 years from now your life situation turned onwards and upwards.

When we are closed to “positive possibilities” we only see what is right in front of us, not what we could see if we would simply be positive and creative. This long term view method also really helps you relax into the flow of the affirmation rather than getting caught up in checking for results every five minutes. Try this affirmation secret and see your results come quicker. It works!

The message I want you take away from this letter is to remember to maintain a positive, can-do attitude.

Until Next time my friend!!!

Things to think about, Life will always have challenges just remember this too shall pass. Your ultimate goals and objectives you have set out for your life resolves around your fears, anxiety or low self-confidence. Do you have a sense for which one of these may be causing the hiccups you mention? If so you have the first step to getting out of your rut.

Many of my clients respond to their problem with this statement, “Every time I say to myself I need to make a change, it always backfires and I end up going one step forward, 500 steps back.”

Do you feel this way, if so you are not alone!

The truth is when you get the feelings that your goals are impossible to reach, do you believe it has to do with the goals you have selected or with uncertainties/fears/negative challenges that impact your belief that you will get there?

When this happens you need to try harder to put yourself in situations that will create opportunity of change. Not only will doing something for change and the enjoyment of it help get out of your mental rut; it will give you a new opportunity to form relationships and friends… breaking down your fear boosting self confidence are all supported by the willingness to change.

I look forward from hearing from you!!!

Releasing The Outcome of Your Affirmations

Dear Friend,

Can you remember an occasion when your negative attitude provoked a negative response? How could you have been more positive in that situation? I’ll tell you how by detaching. Negative thinking tends to blow things out of proportion, viewing them as larger and more difficult than they really are. Remember, I mention earlier that negative attitudes produce negative responses while positive attitudes encourage positive responses.

I have found that the secret to affirmations is to release the outcome. I know it sounds counterproductive but it really is not. Here is how it works.

Let's say you are affirming to get a new job. You focus and affirm and go about your day to day comings and goings. After many months you are wondering what is happening, or what isn't happening -- you are still in the same old crappy job...

Sometimes, affirmations don't work.

While there are many possible reasons for this:

-You sabotage the affirmation because your inner self does not support the venture

-You don't stick with it
-Negative thinking is circling your brain instead of positive
-You don’t expect change to happen
-You feel bad even though you are speaking positive thoughts

As well as others there is also the element of 'something better than the affirmation' happening.

I will explain...

Sometimes we think we really really want something to happen (increase our beauty, get a lover, increase our wealth, get a new house, land a new job, etc). Sometimes our inner self has something better in mind; we just don't know it yet. Sometimes what we think would be really great for us really would not. I can’t emphasize too strongly how important it is that you resist the urge to characterize something as totally negative or to focus excessively on negative aspects of a situation. Look at the situation as a whole and find something positive about it. Overall, know without a doubt what it is that you want then release the outcome.

Releasing the outcome of an affirmation allows The Universe (or your inner self) to let these perfect things happen.

There have been many affirmations I have faithfully affirmed only later to be SO happy they did not come to pass. Life twists and turns sometimes and I know we think we have it all figured out but sometimes surprises happen that are very fruitful and full of joy. Even some really painful experiences result in great things happening that otherwise would have never happened.

Automatically blaming ourselves when something goes wrong or thinking everything that goes is intended against us as individuals is making things in life to personal and it makes positive thinking very difficult.

Let go of the outcome and simply state to The Universe after a meditation/affirmation

"This or something better"This is really an exercise in detachment or being unattached to the outcome of your affirmations and accepting what is (rather than pining for something, somewhere else).

Yes, you really want these things to happen...

-you voice the desire (the affirmation)

-you feel the emotion

-you make different decisions

-you take different actions...

Point blank and then you forget about it. When results start happening accept them. This doesn't mean you can not affirm for the results to change it simply means accept whatever happens -- after all you are creating all of this. If you really think your results suck ask your inner self what is going on -- I am sure you will get what you need to understand at this time.

Real Talk: I have learned that worry and reason are weak spots in many people lives. I used to worry and try to figure out many things. I couldn’t seem to relax and be at peace unless I thought I had everything all figured out. I realize a long time ago that it was my desperate but foolish attempt to feel in control of life and therefore safe. When I allowed myself to worry and reason. I gave place to unwanted thoughts and circumstances. My message to you my friend is to stop worrying about how life will unfold and learn how to detach and go with the flow.

Until Next time my friend!!!

A list of Affirmation for each life Domain of Life

Dear Friend,

I’m writing to give you a boost of encouragement and inspiration to get you through your day. Below is a list of affirmation to help you change your negative mindset that will allow you to looking at the world differently.

Remember there are no victims in this world only people who make choices and decision by the facts and knowledge they have at the present moment.

Choose wisely because there are consequences around the corner.

5 domains of life that matter

Personal
Professional
Relationships
Spiritual
Family

I advise all my friends to focus upon two main areas to manifest a successful life.

Confidence and Wealth!!!

Confidence
Confidence will allow you to face all the negativity and hardship this world has to offer.

Wealth

Wealth will allow you to calm down and have peace of mind. I ‘m not saying Oprah kind of wealth because not everyone is ware of how to handle that kind of wealth- lots of growth, humbling and right mindset is needed for that type of wealth. Many people only need enough to pay their bills and have fun without feeling like the end of the world is near when their bank account is low. The wealth many of us need is enough to ease the pain and hardship of responsibilities while leaching enough to treat yourself and your family without having to live pay check to pay check.

I had to learn this the hard way, everything I write in these letters are things I wish I had known. Maybe my letters and words will touch you and inspire you to change or give you a little joy of information that will add another peace to your puzzle of life. I don’t know but what I do know for sure is as soon as I learned that God didn’t want me to worry or try to figure everything our, my life start to change.

I chose to choose my thoughts on purpose and growth begin. You can choose your own thoughts and see change within your life also. All you have to do is believe!

Real Talk: You must believe you can do s thing or you won’t even try!!!

I will end this month’s lesson with the affirmations that I use in my daily life…
