Hello Friend,

Congratulations on taking your first step. By deciding there is a goal that you want to achieve you have already taken that very important step.

I’m glad you’ve chosen to invest your time in reading and working through this coaching guide. It was designed to help you to partner with God and design your life around what is important to you. This is just one of many steps designed to draw you into your destiny. The next stage of your journey starts now.

My mission in life is to spread self awareness knowledge to as many people as possible.

That’s me in the photo below. I have spent this year searching for the best things to share with you that I thought could help bring you the most awareness. Much love and heart has been poured into this site, and I hope you’ll find something here that’ll makes your heart sing, brightens up your day, or helped you with a problem.

I created this site in intention to share my personal journey many of you know I am a survivor of my very own Quarterlife Crisis, Approval Addiction and Low Self Esteem and I wanted to share some things I’ve learned about various topics pertaining to reclaiming your life after being lost, confused and lacking direction in life — we all seek fulfillment, empowerment, relationships, creativity, and want to overcome ours fears — and ultimately how to reclaim our life.

My goal is to create a warm and loving space where we can reflect on our own lives through what I learned by counseling other people and my own personal story, and to find inspiration to be happy again.

Hope you find something here that speaks to you, and that your life shines a little brighter because of it. If you’re new, make sure you start at January post and work your way down to our current post and read our motivational quotes down the side of the page.

Welcome to our awareness sessions. Take whatever you need and leave the rest behind.

How to Become More Independent: This article is Part 4 of 4

Dear Friend,

Developing a positive mindset is one of the most powerful life strategies there is. Using powerful positive thinking techniques, visualizations and positive affirmations, it is possible to achieve whatever you want. However, learning how to become independent is the most useful skill I can teach you.

At a personal level it will transform your life, your health and renew the joy and passion for life. Imagine waking up each morning, bursting with excitement, energy and joy for the new day! Independence really is that powerful...

If you are unsure of what you want these 7 steps should be the foundation of getting your life started. Once this is done it will give you a sense of responsibility, meaning, and accountability. Then you can start on working on dream building the life you wish to create.

These steps may seem simply but the truth of the matter many people I have counsel haven’t completed these steps they still depend on family members in many of these areas.

You would be surprise how many twenty something and even thirty something who still does not have a checking account. So, please do not judge or think these steps are ridiculous.

To some people this is a major start to independence. If you have completed these steps Congratulations You are one step ahead of the game. Like it or not many people still need help and guidance in these simple areas. Thank the person who gave you advice or told you that these steps are essential for your future.

Find a job and get hired. It might be comfortable to skip out on working and stay at your parents' house, but it will not develop you as an individual, unless you are going to school or college full-time with parents supporting your efforts. Without your own, independent life, eventually, you'll realize just how stagnant and depressing your life can become, if you don't detach from your parents.

Sign up for a bank account. Most banks offer a checking and savings account together, in one convenient package. Some companies, institutions, and organizations will require you to have at least a checking account (some only pay employees via direct deposit electronically, not by a pay check). Money you earn that isn't necessary for your own expenses should be put into a savings account until you're ready to be independent. Always pay yourself first then pay your bills. 10% is a good start.

Save money; pay yourself. Save as much as is reasonably possible. This will help you create an emergency fund, since life can be unpredictable at times. Improve the quality of your life by putting aside a set amount of money each month. There are such things as accidents, which can occur when you least expect it.

Rid the bad influences in your life. Don't break friendships unless absolutely necessary. Learn to keep a healthy distance. Even if those friends are "totally cool," they may only hold you back from breaking out on your own. Also, if you feel that your friends will hold you back in life, move on.

Make some better/smarter friends (while loving your old friends). You may decide to move to another city or state to find opportunities. Feelings of homesickness are only temporary, but making progress (which defines success) may last a life time. Always keep in touch and start soicalizing early in your new city to find at least one new friend to avoid homesickness.

Rent your own place. Nothing says independent like having your dwelling even if it is just a room at or near your work or college. It may be difficult, but keep working so you can have your own place. This will encourage you to hoist yourself out of the life depending on parents or a boyfreind, as a routine in which you are stuck.

Be determined. Never doubt that you can make progress, even if there are setbacks -- advance again. Consider that progress toward your goals is how to measure your kind of success. Discover your interests and direction in life, then define your goals to get there. The person who can stop you from doing things that move toward your own goals is yourself

Stay in school or get training in a good trade or improve abilities and skills. Learn a trade -- to begin a real career (not just for money, or you may get stuck in a dead-end line of work). Give college a chance; even one year of college. Earn a degree or a trade school diploma by suspending some activities that pull you down into a trap/rut. Online learning is a good options if you need to contuine to work while attending school.

Real Talk: Try to do more things on your own like getting out more without your partner, create your own space.
Becoming independent  is an enlightening experience. You become self-sufficient and do things for others without expectations of something in return. You are no longer needy and become utterly grateful for all the things people have done for you in the past. Becoming independent is a time of harmony because you develop that philosophy or belief system that will carry you throughout the rest of your life. When you love yourself and who you are, you will savor and enjoy both life's pain and pleasures.
How do you know you have become more accountable for your life? When you are able to give advice and help others do the same. Becoming independent yourself is not easy. If you have never felt connected to who you are, always dependent on your family and do not know what you want out of life, being independent will be hard. The first step is always the hardest, but after that hill, you will be smooth sailing to discovering who you are and what you want out of life. Make a goal to look for a job , then step out in search for a place to stay, then search inside yourself  for something you want to achieve whether being in a play or starting your own business or even a book club.
The bottom line is your family is an important support system, but once you're an adult, you need to learn how to provide for yourself.

Affirmation for becoming more independent:

I love and approve of myself
I am capable and competent and in the perfect place.
New doors are opening all the time.
It is safe for me to go beyond my parents’ limitations.
It is safe for me to grow up. I now handle my own life with joy and ease.
My family is loving and supportive
I take responsibility for my own life. I am free.
I deserve to have a wonderful life.

I hope this helps. Till next time!!!

Love and Blessing

Things to think about, Life will always have challenges just remember this too shall pass. Your ultimate goals and objectives you have set out for your life resolves around your fears, anxiety or low self-confidence. Do you have a sense for which one of these may be causing the hiccups you mention? If so you have the first step to getting out of your rut.

Many of my clients respond to their problem with this statement, “Every time I say to myself I need to make a change, it always backfires and I end up going one step forward, 500 steps back.”

Do you feel this way, if so you are not alone!

The truth is when you get the feelings that your goals are impossible to reach, do you believe it has to do with the goals you have selected or with uncertainties/fears/negative challenges that impact your belief that you will get there?

When this happens you need to try harder to put yourself in situations that will create opportunity of change. Not only will doing something for change and the enjoyment of it help get out of your mental rut; it will give you a new opportunity to form relationships and friends… breaking down your fear boosting self confidence are all supported by the willingness to change.

I look forward from hearing from you!!!

Love and Blessing LeToya
